Tip 1: Let's make a triangle

To make a triangle, take a piece of felt about twicec as long you want the triangle to be wide. Fold a rectangle shape by following the steps from the Shapes Part 1 tutorial: fold the loose sides of the piece of felt inwards to create straight edges. Then, fold the rectangle (or square) in half, corner to corner. Poke the triangle with your needle on the felting surface, focusing on keeping the edges sharp. In the tutorial video, we determine that our triangle is too big, so we fold it in half again. This makes it a little thicker than we would ideally want for this piece, so I recommend checking that you like the size of the triangle before you start poking away (like we did). Once you're satisfied with the size, shape, and firmness, gently remove the triangle from your felting surface to attach it to another piece.

On the left side of the image, two partially obscured hands fold a piece of black felting wool into a rectangle on a felting pad. On the right, the hands fold the rectangle into a triangle, corner to corner. An incomplete grey and buff-chested borb sits in the background in both images.
